Dear Sunflower Families,

What a wonderful month it has been! The classrooms have been buzzing with curiosity, laughter, and so many proud moments. We are so grateful for the warmth and support each of you brings to our little community every single day. Here is everything happening in June — we hope you enjoy reading along.

This Month's Theme: Our Amazing World

June Curriculum Focus

This June, we are exploring the theme "Our Amazing World" — diving into nature, animals, weather, and the beautiful planet we all share. Through stories, songs, sensory play, and hands-on science experiments, the children are discovering how plants grow, why the sky changes color, and what makes each creature unique.

We will be reading favorites like The Very Hungry Caterpillar and National Geographic Little Kids books, and our dramatic play corner has been transformed into a cozy nature explorer's camp — complete with binoculars and magnifying glasses.

Developmental Milestones We Are Working On

Growth + Learning Goals

Social-Emotional Skills

Practicing turn-taking, sharing, and naming our feelings using our classroom "emotion wheel." Children are learning that all feelings are valid and that we can use words to express them.

Pre-Literacy + Language

Recognizing letters in our own names, building vocabulary through daily read-alouds, and practicing rhyming games and songs to strengthen phonological awareness.

Fine Motor Development

Strengthening little hands through painting, playdough sculpting, threading beads, and using child-safe scissors — all building the foundational skills for writing.

Activity Highlight: Our Butterfly Garden Project

What We Have Been Up To

This month we launched our very own Butterfly Garden in the outdoor learning area. Each child planted their own milkweed seedling, learned about the life cycle of a butterfly, and decorated their very own garden marker to take home at the end of the month.

We are so proud of how gently and carefully our little gardeners tended to their plants. Keep an eye out for your child's seedling coming home — it will need plenty of sunshine and love.

Show and Tell Day

Children are invited to bring one special item from home that connects to our "Our Amazing World" theme — a shell, a rock, a leaf, or a favorite animal toy. We cannot wait to see what everyone brings.

Field Trip: Riverside Nature Park

We will be visiting Riverside Nature Park for a guided walk through the butterfly meadow. Permission slips and more details will be sent home this week — please return them by June 14.

June

School Photo Day — Do Not Miss It

Our annual school photo day is June 26. Please dress your child in their favorite outfit and ensure they arrive on time. Individual and class group photos will both be taken. Order forms go home on June 20.
