A Note from Principal Rivera

Dear Westfield Families,

Spring has arrived at Westfield, and the energy on campus is absolutely contagious! This week we kick off our annual Spring Spirit Week, and I could not be more excited to see our students, staff, and families come together to celebrate everything that makes our school community so special.

Each day brings a new theme — from Pajama Day on Monday to our Golden Wildcat Pride Day on Friday — so encourage your little ones to get creative and have fun with it. Spirit Week is one of my favorite traditions here at Westfield because it reminds us that school is not just about learning, it is about belonging.

Thank you for your continued partnership. We are so grateful for this community.

Student Achievement

Amara Johnson, Grade 4 — Regional Science Fair Winner

Amara took first place at the District Regional Science Fair last Saturday with her project on water filtration using natural materials. We are incredibly proud of her curiosity, hard work, and dedication. Way to represent Westfield, Amara!

Classroom Spotlight

Ms. Patel's Grade 2 — Reading Challenge Champions

Ms. Patel's second-grade class has collectively read over 500 books this school year as part of our All-School Reading Challenge — the first class to hit that milestone. Each student will receive a Golden Wildcat Reading Badge at Friday's assembly. Incredible work, Room 12!

Important Reminders

School Picture Day — Thursday, April 17

Individual and class portraits will be taken throughout the day. Students do not need to wear their Spirit Week theme on Thursday — dress your best for photos! Order forms were sent home last week. Contact the main office if you need a replacement form.

Library Books Due — Friday, April 18

All library books checked out before spring break must be returned by end of day Friday, April 18. Please help your child locate any books at home this week. Overdue notices will be sent home the following Monday. Lost book fees may apply after that date.

Spring Carnival Tickets Now on Sale

Our annual Spring Carnival is coming up on Saturday, May 10! Tickets are now available for purchase through the school website or at the front office. Early bird pricing of $8 per ticket (or $25 for a family pack of 4) ends April 25. Proceeds support the PTA student enrichment fund.

Safety Update

Crosswalk Improvement Project

Beginning Monday, April 14, the City of Westfield Public Works Department will begin a crosswalk improvement project on Maple Avenue and Elm Street — both primary drop-off and pick-up routes adjacent to our campus.

Construction is expected to run through Friday, April 25. During this time, please allow extra travel time in the morning and afternoon. Temporary pedestrian crossing signals will be in place, and crossing guards will be stationed at all affected intersections throughout school hours.

We ask that all families use the designated drop-off loop on Cedar Lane and avoid double parking on Maple Avenue. Your cooperation keeps our students and neighbors safe, and we truly appreciate your patience during this short-term project.
