10-Point Compatibility Check

Every template is validated against these rules before publishing. The same checks run automatically on AI-generated emails. Rules derived from Can I Email, Litmus, and Campaign Monitor.

No FlexboxOutlook uses Microsoft Word's rendering engine instead of a browser engine. Word has no understanding of CSS Flexbox — elements simply collapse or stack incorrectly.

No CSS GridCSS Grid is unsupported in all Outlook desktop versions. Gmail also strips many grid properties. EmailBits uses table-based layouts — the only layout system with near-universal support.

@media Query AwarenessGmail's web interface does not apply @media rules, meaning responsive breakpoints won't trigger. EmailBits templates are designed fluid-first so they degrade gracefully without media queries.
Caution
Alt Text on All ImagesOutlook blocks images by default for external senders. When images are off, alt text is the only content visible. Missing alt text leaves a blank white box where your hero image should be.
Best Practice
Max-Width ConstraintWithout a max-width, a single-column email can stretch to 1,400px+ on a wide monitor, making line lengths unreadable. The standard safe width for email is 600–700px.
